Our handcrafted vintage replica matchboxes are available in 4 sets (01,02,03 and 04) and each set contains a DIY kit with 6 self-assembly paper matchboxes and 6 vintage matchbox label replicas. It's the perfect storage solution for your little bits and pieces of stickers, ephemera, manila tags or die-cut collectibles--anything flat and tiny! They are pretty as collectibles or best used for organising embellishments.
Just imagine some these matchbox labels were produced during the late 19th century in India, China and during the Art Deco era in Japan, in mid-century in Russia and other Eastern-Bloc countries! Back then these matchboxes were the most affordable way to collect vintage advertising art. Some of these designs you see in these kits are replicas of Swedish matchboxes which dominated the market back then such as Vulcan, Telegraph, Three Storks and Tiger amongst others!
We would like to think we've produced them with as much respect to the originals as possible.
They are fun collectibles and make a beautiful retro addition to your desk!
*Assembly is required--There are score lines on the cover and the insert tray and all you need to do is to fold along the score lines and if you wish you can glue the edges down but they have been designed to stay down when folded in.
